THE IRISH COUNTRY HOUSE: Its Past, Present & Future

Since the founding of the IGS over fifty years ago, considerable change has taken place in the fortunes of and attitudes to the Irish country house and these changes have been discussed each year at the Annual Historic Houses of Ireland Conference and now published in a book of essays titled The Irish Country House: Its Past, Present and Future, edited by Dr. Terence Dooley and Dr Christopher Ridgway and published by Four Courts Press.

DINNER AT THE TRAVELLERS CLUB

The pre-Christmas Club dinner has become a firm fixture in our annual calendar and this year's will be our seventh. After dining previous years at the Reform and Boodle’s, this year we will be dining at the Travellers Club.

THE CITY ASSEMBLY HOUSE: A HOME FOR THE IGS

One of the most exciting recent developments in the history of the Irish Georgian Society has been the signing of a long-term lease from Dublin City Council for the City Assembly House on Dublin’s South William Street. In addition to ensuring the survival of the building, once restored it will become the Society’s new headquarters.

SAINT PATRICK’S DAY PARTY AND EVENTS REVIEW

One of the most popular events of our calendar continues to be our Saint Patrick’s Day Party and Events Review and we will return once again to Lettsom House for our annual review of the years activites and enjoy the company of fellow members. Our evening will commence with an illustrated review of the previous year's activities by John Redmill, Chairman of the London Chapter Committee and IGS Director, Donough Cahill will update us on developments in Ireland, including projects funded by the London Chapter, followed by a two course buffet supper with wine.
