Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown’s Historic Houses lecture series
The Irish Georgian Society has assembled a team of leading conservation experts to deliver a conservation course on the understanding and care of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown’s period houses.

The course, for which a certificate of attendance will be issued, takes place on Wednesday evenings from 27th October to 1st December (walking tour on Saturday 27th November) and comprises 12 lectures & an optional architectural walking tour. Aimed at the owners and guardians of the many 19th century houses located along south county Dublin’s coastline from Blackrock, Booterstown, Monkstown, Dun Laoghaire, Glasthule, Sandycove, Dalkey, Killiney and Shankill, the course will provide an understanding and appreciation of the significance of these period houses and practical information on their care and conservation. Lectures are delivered by the leading authorities on the subject and will be followed by question and answers sessions where homeowners are encouraged to bring photographs of their houses in order to attain more personal conservation advice.
Lectures, which will start on Wednesday 27th October (7pm 9.30pm) will be held in the Royal St. George Yacht Club, Dun Laoghaire Harbour. It is possible to attend an individual evening session, which comprises two lectures (€25), which you may pay for in advance or at the door on the evening or book in advance for the whole course at a special discounted price of €130. Price includes tea/coffee.
Conservation publications relevant to the talks may be purchased on the evening. Pre-booking necessary for optional morning walking tour on Saturday 27th November (€10). Places limited.
This course is recognised by the RIAI, Engineers Ireland & Irish Planning Institute for Continuing Professional Development. This course has been supported by the Department of Environment Heritage & Local Government.
