Traditional Building Skills in Action Exhibition, Castletown, Co. Kildare
Irish Georgian Society & Kildare County Council in partnership with OPW present an action packed two-day exhibition in the grounds of the splendid Castletown, Celbridge, Co. Kildare with demonstrations of thatching, slating, lime mortar use, repair of historic windows, decorative plasterwork and other traditional building skills. Running alongside the exhibition will be two days of conservation lectures. The restored Irish Landmark Trust Batty Langley Lodge and Round House are open and architects, Blackwood Associates Architects and Cathal Crimmins Architect, will be on hand to explain the recent conservation works. Family friendly event. Free facepainting & bouncy castle. All welcome & no admission charge. This event has been supported by the Heritage Council, Kildare County Council and the Office of Public Works. Ciarán Cuffe, Minister of State with special responsibility for Sustainable Transport, Horticulture, Planning and Heritage will launch the exhibition at 12 noon on Saturday 26th June 2010.
