IGS London Summer Party

10.07.2018, 18:30 P.M.

Please note that this event will now take place on TUESDAY 10TH JULY

Our Summer Drinks Party this year will be held at Zachary House, 70 Strand-on-the-Green, W4 3PF, a 5 minute walk from Kew Bridge. This is the home of Irish Georgian Society London Member Annie Mackeson-Sandbach, long-standing friend of IGS Committee Member Rob van Mesdag.

Zachary House is an attractive Georgian building with a 19th-century façade which forms part of a ribbon of picturesque 18th-century houses along the riverfront.

The house is particularly notable for its occupants, and carries the name of its original owner Captain Zachary. William Sergeant lived here from 1888 until 1917 and was responsible for building some of Chiswick’s grandest villas.

More recently, this was the home of the pop star Midge Ure in the 1980s. Ure’s friend, another pop star, Sir Bob Geldof, recorded their hit song "Do They Know It's Christmas" for Band Aid, in the mews attached to the main house.

Drinks and canapés will be served from 6.30pm and the evening will end around 8.30pm. The cost per person is £35 members, £30 YIG members, or £39 non-members. Please note that guests are welcome.
