The vision of the Irish Georgian Society is to conserve, protect and foster a keen interest and a respect for Ireland’s architectural heritage and decorative arts. These aims are achieved through its scholarly and conservation education programmes, through its support of conservation projects and planning issues, and vitally, through its members and their activities.

The Irish Georgian Society and Westport County Council’s Westport Study Day, which took place on Friday 10th November in the drawing room of Westport House, County Mayo. This study day was intended to provide a history, appreciation and understanding of the architecture and conservation of Westport House, in tandem with an exploration of the urban development of the planned Georgian town of Westport; and consider Westport as an exemplar of heritage led regeneration.
