About the Birr and Midlands Chapter and Committee
The Birr Chapter was set up in 1994. In 2015, the Birr Chapter extended its geographical reach and is now known as the Birr/Midlands Chapter. The Committee, consisting of 15 members, meets once a month. Committee Officers : Chapter Head, the Earl of Rosse; Chair, John Joyce; Hon Treasurer, Gerry Browne; Hon Secretary, Elizabeth Fogarty. Activities include trips to Georgian and other sites of interest a couple of times a year; participation in the annual garden party at diverse Georgian buildings and an annual Christmas party at Birr Castle. In 2015/2016 the Chapter was proud to support and contribute to the Famous and Notables (FAN trail) of Birr which resulted in the installation of 25 Blue Plaques around the town commemorating previous distinguished residents.
