Description:
Temple House has been owned by the Perceval family since 1665 and comprises a two-storey, seven-bay building with a balustraded parapet, central pediment, and a single storey flat roofed porte-cochere projecting from its front. The house retains much of its original features including joinery, plate glass windows, and original furniture that was specially commissioned for the house. The estate takes its name from the Knights Templar, the wealthiest of three military orders founded during the crusades, after a castle was founded on the site shortly after 1200. The surviving remains of earlier Perceval dwellings within the demesne add greatly to the unique historic importance of the site.
