Join the Cork Chapter for a visit to House. Built in 1760 to the design of celebrated local architect John Roberts it was home to six generations of the Congreve family. The last member of the family to live in the house was Ambrose Cristian Congreve and on his death in 2011 he left Mount Congreve Estate in Trust to the Irish State. The world-renowned gardens at Mount Congreve are a haven for plant and history lovers alike. The gardens comprise about seventy acres of woodland, a four-acre walled garden and 16 kilometers of walkways. They are noted for the magnificent collection of rare trees, shrubs and other plants.
