Saturday 18th May - Day tour to County Kilkenny
Pat Murray will lead a day tour exploring County Kilkenny, members will have a chance to visit Shankill Castle which is the home to Geoffrey and Elizabeth Cope since 1991. Shankill Castle was initially a Butler tower-house, situated near the ruins of an old church. The new Shankill Castle was constructed as a Queen Anne house, set in a formal landscape, vista to the front and canal to the rear. Next, the group will visit Dangan Cottage where the group will be hosted for lunch by Christopher Moore. After lunch, the group will visit Ballysallagh House home to IGS members Kieran and Geralyn White. Ballysallagh House is a Classical-style house with dormer attic, dated 1722.
