Dr David Caron’s talk relates to his latest book, Dublin’s Stained Glass – A guide to the finest twentieth-century windows.

Stained Glass – A guide to the finest twentieth-century windows. It was during this century that Irish stained glass garnered an international reputation with works by artists such as Harry Clarke, Wilhelmina Geddes, Michael Healy, Evie Hone and Richard King in considerable demand. All were based in Dublin, as were the key studios, Earley’s, Clarke’s, An Túr Gloine, Murphy-Devitt Studios and Abbey Stained Glass, and many of their most significant works can be found in the capital. David’s talk will reveal the changing tastes and subject choices in stained glass that evolved over the course of the century which were determined by artistic and architectural movements as well as by seismic events such as two world wars and Vatican II.
