Dr Brendan Twomey is a retired banker. His research interests include the life and times of Jonathan Swift, the growth of eighteenth-century Dublin and personal financial management in eighteenth-century Ireland. Swift lived in Dublin for most of his life, most of it in his deanery in Kevin Street. This illustrated talk, using the Brooking’s map of 1728 as an aide, will recount Swift’s decades-long involvement with the civic, cultural, and economic life of the city with which he had what could only be described as a ‘love hate’ relationship.

6 pm with registration at 5:45 pm at City Assembly House.
