Located off the coast of Rush, Co. Dublin, Lambay was originally the site of a 16th century fort that was transformed in the early 20th century by the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens into a home for Cecil Baring, 3rd Baron Revelstoke, and his wife Maude Lorillard. The Castle is set within terraced gardens by the celebrated designer Gertrude Jekyll. The house and island remain in the care of the Baring family, and we will be met there by Alex Baring, Lord Revelstoke, and Matthew Jebb, former Director of the National Botanic Gardens.
The visit departs from Howth Pier and includes a tour of the house and gardens, a barbeque by the harbour and an informal tasting of Lambay Whiskey. As well as the private boat charter, the fee includes a donation to the preservation and protection of the island. Weather dependent.
Own transport to Howth. Departure time to be confirmed.
